Chamber Groups:
Exploring Tonal Possibilities |

Over the years, Aaron Novik has put together a number of different chamber improv groups to perform compositions of his. These include the Mishlinga chamber group (Sarah Jo Zaharako on violin, Kristina Forrester on cello, Jacob Lindsay on bass clarinet, and Aaron Novik on clarinet), netbonepetphone (Darren Johnston on trumpet, Mark Bolin on trombone, Colin Stetson on saxophones and Aaron Novik on clarinets) and most recently the Crafty Apples (Dina Maccabee on viola, Ches Smith on vibraphone, Aaron Novik on bass clarinet and Cornelius Boots on flute).
Each group explores a different aspect of Aaron Novik writing, from through composition (mishlinga) to gestural symbol charts (Crafty Apples) to pure improv (netbonepetphone).
Aaron has been busy writing music for his chamber group Crafty Apples, in an on going project with artist Mark Wilson that involves drawing, music and animation.
